Fate and the Creative Director – A Chance Meeting
Weeks of festivities, a wedding and a barrage of birthdays after, the days are finally winding down to serious business. Corporations must be relieved that finally businesses can move on after the long Pause. As for me, it has given me many opportunities to reflect on the little things that we make life to be.
Firstly, we can have the best laid out plan but nature has its own way. If we are not in congruence with it, we can do absolutely nothing to change it…!
I’m guilty of driving quite fast as I’m always rushing for something. A part of me will whisper that I shouldn’t drive fast…then I think about the innocent driver, who follows all the rules, sees a car break down by the side of the road, gets down to help but instead gets knocked down by a wayward driver…
I’m not condoning fast driving and neither am I saying that we shouldn’t help… but it really begs the question… are we truly in control of our lives and can we actually steer its course?
Today Quantum Physicists are saying “what you observe, you become”. They came up with this conclusion when they were studying the behaviour of sub atomic particles. Scientists found that when they tried to observe the behaviour in an experiment, each scientist came up with a different result. This means the act of observing influences the behaviour of these sub atomic particles. So, in the larger context, since our bodies are made of these atoms, we can influence what we become.
Now that is a double edged sword, while in one instance it gives us the notion that our potential is limitless… it also means we have to be extremely careful about what we observe. So now, what about all those medical tests that we are compelled to take after we are 40? Does that mean that the more tests we take, the more attention we give to ourselves that something might be wrong…and soon we are in fact making that a reality?
Then I arrived at the big question…How do we reconcile Fate and being the Creative Director of our lives?
Fate is like saying… the plan has already been laid out…the faster we get with the plan the happier we are with our life. Like I said earlier… nature has its plan and we can’t change it! But hey, how can we know what is the ‘real’ plan so that we can follow the ‘plan’?
Being the Creative Director on the other hand implies that we direct the course of our lives, that we write the story and make all the choices in life that takes us where we are exactly today.
As I’m writing this something struck me…perhaps it can be reconciled after all… I think!
Stay with me as I talk through this…as I’m also only just discovering…
So there is a plan… but most of us have not exercised our consciousness to the point we understand it yet. The only thing that we can do is to first admit that we don’t know. We don’t know what or how our lives are going to be even 2 years down the road…so how are we going to plan for a lifetime?
When we admit that we don’t know only then will we give up pushing and pulling life.
We open our hearts and minds to every experience in the here and now and observe all the clues… what makes us truly happy…not what we have been conditioned to believe how that Happiness is defined but rather our version of it. For I cannot imagine a plan by nature that never took this into account.
And here…right here in this moment I believe Fate and the Creative Director in us meet… in the centre.
Imagine if we simply stopped pushing and pulling life into the many directions we have been conditioned to, and embrace all the experiences that life throws at us, look for the clues written in them and let the Creative Director in us flow, we surely are recreating the story…our story… which is in line with Fate… putting our happiness on the map.
Of course by the time we have realised this we would have taken 100s of detours, u-turns and no entry roads which would have complicated the story a little. But perhaps these were all necessary parts so that we have a deeper understanding that those are not the roads to take…
It is our journey to understand and learn
from that…unravelling the knots and then to just trust and believe…in the moment…
