True Independence comes when we are free from the shackles of our minds. We can use adversity to weaken ourselves and resign to our fates or use it to push ourselves to cross boundaries and reveal our true selves.
Too many times we focus on what is going wrong…yet every now and then, from all corners of this country we are awed by those who have become leaders in their own chosen fields. Proving to us that one can achieve success or open new frontiers if only they believed in themselves and forged ahead with this conviction.
This painting depicts an indian boy, surrounded by the many pedestals of those before him, who walked through this inspiring path. Their energies are serenading him and inspiring him to forge his own journey…awakening him to the possibilities that lies within him.
Each of the personalities chosen to sit on the pedestals have been carefully selected to tell the stories of those who against the odds gave meaning to their lives such as Maha Sinnathambhy, Jeganathan Ramachandram and others. Those who gave up their silver spoon to fullfill a calling such as Puan Sri Janaky Athihanappan. Those who chased after their dreams such as Indrani Kopal, Bernard Chandran, R. Arumugam, Punch Gunalan, M. Magendran and many others.
The symbol on each pillar represents where they came from and the symbols on top of the platform represents where they are today.
The door up behind him represents Hope which is the seed of every journey.
