Pain
This heart wrenching pain
Like a knife twisting
in an open wound
It bleeds tears
In memory of bliss
That it once touched
The bliss of knowing truth
Only in death revealed
These hands
They reach out
With frantic desperation
Grasping for the dream
That once was alive
If only the light
Of your shadow
Could touch me
Even for the merest moment
If only I can be
In your presence
And feel you from a distance
Feeling but not touching
This pain I shall endure
This hollowness it shall fill
For the briefest moment
Enough to sustain me
Until the next moment
This hunger
Once more shall return
Waiting to be satiated.
