Still I Dance
Like a string of pearls… I wove my dreams
one by one…selecting the finest of them
how carefully I strung them
whilst singing a tune …
though the melody… I knew not then
cloaked by the warmth of innocence
there I danced wearing the pearls
hair flying in the face of a world unknown
trusting the beat to move me in rhytmn
Now I stand here…the pearls have long unravelled
lying scattered on the floor
they gleamed in the corners of the room
reminding me…of a life before then
but my feet still danced… yes they still do…
the pearls standing witness
of who I am not today…
Silence in my heart…but not sorrow
tears in my eyes…
as I see me…the true me
not who I thought I would be
innocence broken…spirit soaring
flying far above… at a distance
…watching as the play unfolds
this life…these thoughts…
this joy …and this pain…
where do you come from
and who do you go home to?
Yet still I dance…for I know no other way…
This bliss… in understanding the pain
Will I choose another way?
Perhaps not….
Yet still I dance…
